Overview
Welcome to Reason Foundation's database of psychedelic policy impact. This project aims to help stakeholders evaluate the effects of drug reform on well-known objective measures of public health. The tabs include data on crime, the prevalence of use, law enforcement interviews, and hospitalization rates, especially in jurisdictions that have undergone some kind of drug reform, such as the legalization of personal possession or the creation of a regulated services market. In some areas, we highlight the date of a law change to illustrate any impacts of policy reforms, such as the legalization of personal possession in Colorado after Proposition 122 was approved on the 2022 ballot. Readers should be aware that relatively few states publicly release data on drug-related incidents. States, for instance, publicly report crime data, but only some report whether different drugs were associated with any given arrest.
When necessary and available, Reason Foundation has purchased proprietary data that is not freely available to the public.
